Veerasan (Hero’s Pose)

Procedure
  • Come into Vajrasan progressively.
  • Slightly unfold your left leg and rest the left foot on the floor near the inner side of the right knee.
  • Gently raise your left hand, put the left elbow on the left knee and rest the chin on the left palm.
  • Make sure your trunk and head stay well erect.
  • Rest your right hand on your right knee, and then close your eyes.
  • Hold the pose for as long as you are comfortable, with slow and even breathing.
  • Gently return to Vajrasan and repeat the asan on the other side.
Awareness
  • On the breaths flowing in and out
  • On keeping the spine and head erect
  • On spontaneously remembering “Radhey Krishna” along with the exhalations and inhalations
Benefits
  • The aim of Veerasan is to improve the functions of the kidneys, liver, and different reproductive and abdominal organs.
  • Yog therapists also recommend it for the development of concentration, for it helps balance the mind of the practitioners.
  • Veerasan allows more awareness of the unconscious realms and brings both—physical and mental relaxation—quickly.
  • This easy pose even benefits those with uncontrolled thoughts because it assists in shaping their thinking process clearly
